One year ago today, our lawsuit against the neo-Nazis and white supremacists behind Unite the Right went to trial.
We won. The Nazis lost. And today, our case is serving as a model for holding other far-right extremists accountable.
One important lesson from our case: We are not powerless. We can fight back against the forces of hate and fascism, and we can win.
But we want to focus on another lesson from our case today. Actually, a warning. 🧵

🚨 New Developments in our Charlottesville Case 🆕 🧵
Today our plaintiffs filed two post-trial motions that could significantly add to the damages & fees against the neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and hate groups behind the Unite the Right violence.
In November, the jury awarded $26M in damages against the 17 defendants that stood trial.
Today we asked the court to impose over $6.2M in additional damages against 7 defaulted defendants that refused to participate. That group includes KKK chapters and a Proud Boys offshoot.

Late last year, our Charlottesville lawsuit resulted in a massive victory for our plaintiffs & $26M+ in damages against some of the most notorious white supremacists and hate groups in America. But the verdict wasn’t the only important outcome of the trial.
Over four weeks, our Sines v. Kessler plaintiffs laid out the truth of what happened at Unite the Right – not a clash between fine people on both sides, but a meticulously planned conspiracy to commit racist violence on the streets of Charlottesville.

When Yiannopoulos released audio of Spencer last fall, he told our legal team that he was “delighted to supply everything in [his] vault” and he “looked into the basis for the lawsuit and I think I can help you more than you might realize.” 2/

Today marks the two-year anniversary of the violence in #Charlottesville, VA. As our suit details, the violence was not spontaneous but, rather, the result of months of online organizing.
We’ll recount in real time the key moments of that August 2017 weekend. #SueANazi
