Now that the dust has settled, what happened in #Baghdad last night?

#Iraq’s Counter-Terrorism Service was handed intelligence about an imminent rocket attack against the Green Zone and its perpetrators.

An anti-terrorism arrest warrant was supplied by a judge.

[continued] Units within #Iraq’s Counter-Terrorism Service descended upon the location of the suspects in southern #Baghdad.

Preparations for the attack were under way and the rocket launchers were ready to be fired.

CTS detained 14 members of Kata’ib Hezbollah and seized two launchers.

The shameful secret is that #Mosul fell to Da’ish a long time before they actually seized its streets.

The terrorists had a mafia-like grip on the city. They ‘taxed’ its businesses and infiltrated its local government.

10th June 2014 was just their coronation. The people of Mosul, like all Sunni communities around #Iraq, had been fed the “Sunni marginalisation” myth.

It said they were worse off in the new Iraq than Shi’a Iraqis.

In reality, the poverty levels in the Shi’a south were significantly worse. But who cares about the truth?

“What’s next?! Tearing down statues of Winston Churchill?!”

Well, now that you’ve mentioned it...

Let’s talk about one of the most widely celebrated genocidal racists in European history.

Thread: “We proceeded systematically, village by village, and we destroyed the houses, filled up the wells, blew down the towers, cut down the great shady trees, burned the crops and broke the reservoirs in punitive devastation.” — Churchill on his time during the 1897 Afghan campaign.

The “Israeli airstrikes in Iraq” story continues to rumble on without a single piece of substantial proof and it’s genuinely bewildering to me.

No footage, no physical debris of the bombs used found, no real investigative proof provided.

Just sensationalism and propaganda. [1] Arbitrarily bombing other countries’ population centres has never been too nefarious, belligerent or reckless for the Israelis to exclude from their playbook & #Iraq’s air defences are depressingly weak but that simply can’t be enough evidence that these strikes took place.
