I'm waiting for Trump administration to promote using the idea of minting the platinum coin to reduce long term interest rates. Seems like something they would be all over, especially when Trump installs his guy at the Fed. The way this would work is Bessent would deposit a huge-denomination, newly-minted platinum coin at the Fed, which would credit Treasury's General account. Bessent would then announce a corresponding sharp reduction in coupon Treasury issuance.
