Part of my argument is that what gets excused as ‘social conservatism’ is simply political conservatism; that it encompasses a lot that needs to be seen in daylight; and, yes, I think this is relevant to the SNP leadership contest. 2/

Given that @GeorgeMonbiot and I both thought to write winter vibe-killing articles about wood-burning stoves, I think we agree on some things. But there’s a fair bit of disagreement, not least over the data. 🧵
I don’t think it’s true to say “Though only 8% of households in the UK … have a wood-burning stove, they release more small particulates … than all the vehicles on the road”

It’s a red letter day in @EdinGeography: the last undergraduate lecture of Professor Charles W.J. Withers FBA, FRSE, Geographer Royal for Scotland etc.
