With rumours abounding that some form of decision may be due soon on 🇦🇺's GPF it is worth taking a look back at how we got here, & re-emphasising why time is critical. 1/

Current Surface Combatant Fleet Fleet: 🇦🇺 presently has 3 x Hobart Destroyers (2017-2020), 7 x ANZAC Class frigates (1996-2006). 2/

🧵It is largely expected that the first of Australia’s biennial National Defence Strategy (NDS) & an unclassified version of the Integrated Investment Plan (IIP) will be released tomorrow.

The biennial was a key recommendation of the 2023 DSR.
