As teachers, we must be attentive to the ways *we* have been traumatized in classrooms and ask what we are doing to heal from that trauma while also interrogating whether we are reproducing that trauma in our teaching practices.
I’ve been teaching for a few years now and something I keep coming back to is the fact that my first lessons in teaching weren’t as a teacher but as a learner. It was sitting in the very classrooms that I now lead that I learned how to, and how not to, hold a learning space.
