Some comments on this op-ed. 1. The WTO is not “a person”. It is an international agreement that we and others made. The organization itself has only the tiniest powers. A new director-general will make little difference.
2. The WTO has been highly respectful of domestic regulation. It is strictly false that “Domestic laws and programs that got in the way of ‘free trade’ were swatted aside like cobwebs.”
