At the risk of being labelled a lefty lunatic. Someone needs to acknowledge that fuel is also important in providing habitat for biodiversity. We can’t simply strip the fuel from ecosystems without crashing our biodiversity. One of the things we are trying to do is work out ways to leave wet, high fuel areas in landscapes to act as climate refuges. Fuel reduction burning can then be used in lower fuel areas to protect the refuges as well as being strategically used to protect human refuges.

Intense protracted droughts. More frequent, higher intensity and larger fires. Longer fire seasons. Sound familiar? These are the predictions for much of Australia under climate change.
How does one boycott a government that refuses to accept the science and act on it? And the most confusing signal from government on climate change. We don’t want to impact jobs and the economy. Surely not acting on climate change will have a much greater economic impact in the long term? Or do I misunderstand economics?
