4 years ago, crohns disease almost took my life.

4 months in the hospital.
7 stomach surgeries.
a $2m bill.

it was reactive care that treated symptoms vs. the root cause

but here’s the craziest part:

i'm now convinced that the same gut breakdown that nearly killed me is quietly happening to most modern humans.

sharing everything I've learned: everyone talks about:

gut health
probiotics
microbiome diversity
fiber & fermented foods

but almost no one talks about the actual gut barrier.

your gut lining is a single layer of epithelial cells.

one cell thick. it’s technically an exterior organ.

that’s what separates your bloodstream from toxins, food particles, LPS, inflammatory bacteria, and pathogens (bad stuff)Image

I just spent 3 hours and $8,000 to replace all of the blood plasma in my body

it's called Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE)

a procedure that removes toxins, dead cells and inflammatory markers from your body – to reduce the rate you age Image

blood plasma is the liquid component of blood that makes up about 55% of its volume.

it's a pale yellow fluid in which the other blood components (eg. red blood cells, white blood cells) are suspended.

but the problem is that our plasma can accumulate toxins, inflammatory molecules, and cellular debris over time.

Therapeutic Plasma Exchange acts a deep cleaning for your blood—removing all of the body’s plasma and replacing it with new, clean Albumin.

the objective is to eliminate toxins and act as a "cellular reset."

TPE can remove unnatural pollutants which our organs like the liver, kidney and immune system can have a tough time handling...

think heavy metals, potentially microplastics, and other harmful compounds.

@natfriedman's viral "Plastic List" from last week shows how pervasive this problem has become in the food system, especially because our body did not evolve in an environment with such a high a toxic burden.

emerging evidence shows that interventions like TPE might be able to help.

I recently threw out 67 different plastic items in my home.

here’s why:

(the truth about BPA) Image BPA (bisphenol A) is an endocrine disruptor

meaning it’s a chemical that acts as synthetic estrogen

multiple studies have linked it to:

• cancer
• obesity
• diabetes
• infertility
• early puberty
• brain and thyroid disorders

the list goes on Image

i’ve been getting weekly vitamin IV drips for the past 6 months

it’s dramatically increased my energy

here’s what I’ve learned about IVs: Image our bodies can absorb nutrients in a variety of ways – through the:

• skin (topical)
• stomach (oral)
• under the tongue (sublingual)

however, not everyone can absorb nutrients properly through the digestive system

was recently wondering why it’s so hard to get lab tests done by a doctor

and the truth is stunning

here’s why many people aren’t getting the care they need: most doctors are financially disincentivized to provide proper care

let me explain:

a survey from 2019 found 80-90% of primary-care doctors are paid by volume

Andrew Huberman recently did a fascinating deep dive on drinking water

here’s how your water is affecting you: if you want the key takeaway, here it is:

drink high pH water to be more hydrated, more energized, and lower inflammation
