🚨OpenAI drama, except it's the Game of Thrones cast🚨

Born on the east side of a large sea? Yep. Speaks multiple languages? Yep. Could be played by Emilia Clarke on television? Yep.

Did you know that BlackRock owns every company in America?

Yes, this is terrifying, but no one has dared to follow this trail a step further... until now.

It's time to take the next step and find out... who owns BlackRock? 👇🏼🧵Image This was an arduous, time-consuming task. First, I tried asking ChatGPT.

But even the world's most powerful chatbot couldn't give me a straightforward answer, saying I needed to contact the company directly. Image

Over the weekend, I found myself in a tight spot. Someone stole my debit card and spent approximately $22,000 at Club Space in Miami. You'll never believe what happened next... Some context: This happened on Friday night, and I noticed it on Saturday when, after trying to get some hash browns at the Ft. Lauderdale Waffle House, my card was declined.

I checked my Wells Fargo account, and I noticed -$17,256 in the account.

1) 🗣 THIS ONE TRICK THAT THE IRS DOESN'T WANT YOU TO KNOW: USE GOD AS A TAX LOOPHOLE 🗣

One hedge fund has grown from $1B to $128B in 45 years while paying $0 in taxes.

It's not on Wall Street or Silicon Valley. It's in Utah.

The Mormon Church.

Check this out. Image 2) So just how big is $128B?

Bigger than Tiger Global.

2x the size of Harvard's endowment.

More than 2x the size of the Vatican's trust.

$128B would be the 57th biggest country in the world by GDP.

How did a church in Utah build such a massive war chest? Image

Objectively, we live in the best era for the most people ever.

Always interesting how those who complain about “late stage capitalism” have built their careers on that very thing.

If you think the present is bad, study history. Life is so good that you can make a solid living decrying the problems of capitalism, largely thanks to capitalism.

Respectfully, I can assure you that the folks who dealt with polio, slavery, dozens of pre-vaccine pandemics, and famine would love late stage capitalism.

99.99% of people know about ChatGPT, but only 0.01% know how to use it correctly.

I have spent 1,000 hours studying AI so YOU don’t have to. Here are the best uses I found: 1) Make alchemy a viable career path.

800 years ago, medieval mages wasted their lives searching for the spell that would turn lead to gold.

But did you know ChatGPT will just tell you how to do it?

Seriously, type “turn lead into gold” and watch the *magic* happen.

🚨ATTENTION TWITTER🚨

As many of you know, @nathanbaugh27 and I write newsletters for a living. It’s a cool gig, because I’m free to post whatever I want on Linkedin now.

Well, we want to teach you how to make $$$ from your written content too!

(Keep reading 😁) On Monday, we are launching our “Business of Newsletters” course on Maven!

There have never been more resources out there to help you get started writing, but there’s basically nothing about turning your newsletter or blog into a business.

We decided to change that.

One of the more annoying aspects of growing a bigger following is the increasing number of transactional interactions or “relationships” you have to deal with online.

Sharing interesting content is one thing, asking for engagement is irritating. To add on to this, if you have to ask for engagement, your content probably isn’t worth engaging with.

A growth hack that actually works? Write stuff worth reading.

(Note: I’m always open to people sharing their stuff with me. It’s the “can you retweet this” that blows)

The dominance of TikTok, Reels, and other short-form, dopamine-heavy products make it seem like long-form is dead.

The truth is that because everyone is chasing hot trends, it’s never been easier to stand out with long-form.

Blogs, podcasts, Youtube channels, whatever. Short-form lives and dies on playing whatever is hot *right now.*

Unique voice takes a backseat to capitalizing on the flavor of the week.

Followers are less engaged, staying power is minimum, and you’re one bad month away from irrelevance.

You've been speaking English your entire life

but did you know that the words you speak are all created from 26 individual letters?

Here are the 26 letters that you MUST know: A

This is the first letter of the alphabet, and it is also one of 5 vowels. Most people think of "apple", but I think of "aardvark" because I'm built different.

Why Linkedin will become the next big dating platform:

🧵 First, let's think about the dominant US dating app: Hinge. One of the biggest problems with Hinge? You can't actually verify that people do what they say they do.

"Works in finance" could mean IB at Goldman, or it could mean slinging annuities at Northwestern Mutual.

With Spain cutting back on A/C and Europe dealing with a continent-wide energy crunch, it's a good time to share one of the weirdest European phobias:

Drafts.

Yes, there is a pervasive fear, especially in Germany, of cold air. Don't believe me? Check out these Reddit posts in r/europe.

"Is your country afraid of drafts?"

🚨SUNDAY STORY TIME🚨

Flashback to April 2020. The world is ending, a pandemic is raging, and the oil market broke, with prices crashing to -$40 per barrel.

One group of Brits made the trade of a lifetime: netting $600M the day the oil market broke.

Here is their story. April 2020

After years of trading on London’s International Petroleum Exchange, Paul "Cuddles" Commins (pictured) now operated a 9-man commodity trading group, Vega Capital, in Essex, England.

The team's favorite market? Oil futures.

Earth is the planet that most of us know and love, but did you know that there are other planets as well?

Here are 7 other planets that you NEED to know about.

(Plus one surprise 👀) 1) Mercury

100 years ago, every thermometer was made out of rocks from this planet's surface. If you eat too much Mercury, you will die.

One year down on Young Money, a lot more to go. The Lindy effect states that the future life expectancy of some non-perishable things is proportional to their current age.

I guess my blog is now more likely to live forever. A few thoughts after doing this for a year: Image First of all, this was only supposed to be a three-month project to gain some writing experience.

I hit a quarter-life crisis last summer and decided to travel overseas for a while, but I wanted to make some money along the way.

I thought writing would be a good idea.

1) No one knows how to actually learn a foreign language.

I have been aggressively studying Spanish over the next month before I fly to Spain. Wanted to share a breakdown of what I've been doing, and how it differs from school. (H/T @tferriss for helping me rethink this) 2) If you have taken a foreign language class in college, you know it goes something like this:

Every week you have a new vocab list like household items, sports, geography, etc. You memorize it for 2 days to pass a test, then forget it all.

1) 🚨A DECADE OF DECEPTION FROM FAST CEO: DOMM HOLLAND 🚨

Fast is closing down, largely because the company was burning an absurd $10M a month in 2021 while only generating $50k per month in sales.

I checked out the history of their CEO, Domm Holland, and it is... interesting. Image 2) First, I admire anyone who tries and fails to build something. Failure is infinitely more impressive than critiquing from a distance without ever entering the arena.

But there is a massive difference between well-intended failure and blatant deception. You be the judge.

1) Most of us are aware that Russia has decided to invade Ukraine.

Yet few know that Verdansk, the city in CoD: Warzone, is based on the eastern Ukraine city of Donetsk.

Luckily, I spent 32 days playing Warzone, winning many games in Ukraine.

How Ukraine can beat Russia 👇🏼🧵 2) First, Verdansk is actually based on Donetsk. Very important to note. Russian and Ukrainian troops will parachute in from various locations.

Ukrainian troops should aim for the prison (bottom right). Why? Because it has a high concentration of loot and vehicles.

She was born in DC and attended Stanford University

Her father was a VP at Enron (ironic)

She contracted SARS-CoV-1 (ironic x2) after working in a lab at the Genome Institute of Singapore one summer
