South Korea’s birthrate problem is such a buffet of factors that if you blame it on any of Korea’s two dozen social issues, you will be right.
Is it the high cost of education/ housing/ living? Is it the oversized burden of child rearing and homemaking on women? Is it the rejection of traditional values? Is it the insistence on heteronormativity? Is it the lack of immigration? All of the above?

China, Korea, Japan is going through its worst cold wave in a decade. Hundreds of planes are grounded, trains, traffics are stuck in blizzards. Why is this happening? Hint: it has a lot to do with global warming.
Immediate reason is the cold Siberian air expanding all the way south to Japan, putting parts of Korea around -30C (-22F). North Korean state media reported that its Mt. Paektu will hit -40C (-40F)!
