Took to the bed earlier with the computer (hate IWD), and what I learned was: NOBODY IN IRELAND WANTS THE TRANS CRAP ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY.
EVERY tweet, from ROG to Oireachtas Ireland, trying to shoehorn in males, has been ratioed up the wazoo.
LISTEN TO WOMEN. THREAD. Lily Ferrero-Rocher from TENI, shoehorned in by Oireachtas Ireland (the Irish Government): at time of writing, 11 likes, 284 comments (all negative, obvs, probably because Lil's a malignant narcissist that threatens violence against women).

I'm going to get myself into a Whole Heap of Trouble here. Everyone's going to be Fierce Cross With Me Altogether. Because I happen to know where Malala is coming from on this issue, and the specific community she's talking about. I wrote about it two years ago. THREAD. Malala grew up (obvs) in Pakistan. In Pakistan, there IS a "trans community"- there has been, for generations. And they ARE marginalised and they ARE treated extremely badly.

Your reminder: sex is binary and immutable; "gender reassignment surgery" is mutilation; children cannot consent to a lifetime of medication and anorgasmia. There's been a lot of noise recently. And when there's noise I don't tweet because other people are saying enough. But today I feel very bad for the mutilated children, so I thought I'd post for them. Even if they don't want me to.

I became James Barry because a couple of years ago, I tweeted what I thought was a pretty innocuous reply to one of @jk_rowling 's tweets, in support. Much to my surprise, a US-based activist amplified my reply, looping in my employer, and a number of our major clients... ... and "shamed" them all, asking them if they supported having a "transphobe" on staff, and if the clients endorsed a company that harboured and encouraged "transphobes." I was really shocked at the trouble they'd taken to research me- going from my Twitter to my LinkedIn, etc.

There's a generational trauma in Ireland that has been passed down from the terrible days of Mother and Baby Homes/Magdalene Laundries. Generations of women and their children were scarred by it. Some Yank showing up working for Google will NOT be allowed to tell us how to think. Yes I'm talking about @dirtycitybird and @wendylyon.
