I've seen people asking if we're sliding toward world war. I wonder if the better question is: how is world war being fought? And how is it going to be fought?
🧵1/11 The last century started with a Trench War (WWI) followed by a tank-and-plane Gasoline War (WWII).
Both wars tested economic strength, but we tested economics mostly by throwing metal at each other.

I really love that Maya laughed at *this* moment in The Bollywood Lovers' Club. It's based on a personal experience. Any lassi-loving friends out there, here is my story for you: I grew up in a home where we made roti and a couple Punjabi dishes regularly, but lots of foods just didn't make our rotation. I LOVED it when we'd visit family in California and eat my aunt's aloo paratha, for example, but we never made it at home. Skills just get lost.

1. Hypothesis: racism is not primarily about claiming that one group is inferior to another. Racism is mostly about a society's expectations for people's behavior when they are in a group known to be out of power. 2. Like many monkeys, humans are very attuned to which groups are in and out of power. Groups in power are allowed to make displays of dominance. Groups out of power are expected to act submissive.

We’ve been reflecting on the First Vision this weekend and thought I’d chime in with some quick thoughts about a part of the story I wish we’d tell more. 1. Joseph Smith grew up really poor (and had a huge chip on his shoulder about it through life). His personal experience of poverty is part of what led to the First Vision.

Third Wheel, a collection of two plays by @mel_leilani billed as "peculiar stories of Mormon women in love," is still on sale for $5.
amazon.com/Third-Wheel-Pe… I got a copy when it came out but went ahead and got more when the book came out. I've seen these plays live and they're breathtaking and I love them and in honor of this sale I'm going to go off for a while with a list of Mormon Lit recommendations and reasons I like each.
