I have had many parents tell me they have taken their child to an eating disorder clinic or a psychiatric residential program, only to be undermined by the therapists & doctors affirming their child as "trans." 2/

Herein lies one of the main reasons why the Chiles v. Salazar Supreme Court case is so incredibly important. When parents are trying to find help to navigate their child’s sudden rejection of their sex, this is often what they find. 🧵 They are seeking a mental health professional who will not simply “affirm” their child’s identity, but instead focus on root or co-occurring issues such as trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and/or autism, not simply affirming the “trans” or false identity.

This is supposedly about puberty & body positivity geared toward 8-11 year-olds. However, it falsely says sex is "assigned" at birth, there are more than 2 genders & describes "intersex" as a 3rd sex. It explains changing one's sex is as easy as changing names & pronouns. 2/

Meet Josie from a Real Stories documentary called “Transgender Kids: Children Wanting Sex Change” that aired Nov. of 2016. Josie has been taught to hate his penis. His mother refers to his penis as a birth defect and tells him his “vagina” grew out instead of in. This is abuse. 1/8
2/8 Josie's mom reinforces that having a penis is wrong and is a birth defect for him. Perhaps Josie’s doctors instilled these false beliefs in Josie’s parents & made them believe it was actually abuse not to tell Josie that he is a girl. Regardless, it was always a lie.

He talks to parents about drug options, not counseling, even though this child is clearly in distress. He normalizes the use of testosterone even though he knows there are no studies to support this usage and longterm affects are unknown. Dad is clearly uncomfortable. 8/ Dr. Garofalo says they know very little about fertility risks, cancer potential, cardiac risks, but they want parents to take a leap of faith. They knew these risks were possibilities and they did it anyways. He also admits their informed consent forms are garbage. 9/
