Work requirements come from the idea that people work less if they receive government support.
But do these programs actually reduce work? In a new WP, @ChloeNEast and I show that for most SNAP (food stamp) recipients this is in fact NOT what happens.

We find that two-thirds of those who apply for SNAP face other barriers to work outside the home such as disabilities and caregiving responsibilities. People who face these barriers do not change their market work regardless of whether the receive SNAP.
