So there's a lot of weird talk today about why the Leafs aren't getting depth forward scoring, and people pointing fingers at the Core 4 (Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Nylander). The argument basically being that their salaries got in the way of fielding offensive support for them. The whole argument felt intuitively off to me, as Toronto committed a lot of money to forwards beneath them this summer, so I decided to dive into the salary makeups of every team's forwards and what kind of goal production they're getting out of their so far.

For me, I've been around a lot of the web community industry and a lot of warning signs are here. I don't want Twitter to die, but policy shifts seem to be leading towards the traps a lot of other failed web empires have fallen into, and all at once too. The mass layoffs create a bad work environment at best and leave a lot of holes at worst, the new policies are already turning off advertisers, etc. The tone of content getting more toxic is a slow-bleed thing but the first two things can easily lead to a bursting dam in a hurry.

Moral of the story: Probably for the best if your young skill guys don't fight unless absolutely necessary This one absolutely stunk on AJ Greer's part too. Wouldn't match up with Schenn so he picks a dude without a fight in North America (Greer had six last year). Real tough guy energy there

Didn't see TOR/PIT last night. I do see that they lost by 1+an EN, and that the GWG should've been stopped. I also see an abnormal amount of people talking about moving on from the Core 4 again. Can someone fill in the blanks on what I'm missing here? Or is it just one of those "every win an asterisk, every loss a referendum" games

The discourse about bringing back Covid restrictions is probably the most dangerous it's been in a while. Everyone is frustrated, most have the right to be frustrated, but what parts we agree to be frustrated about can make or break how we act moving forward What we should be mad about right now is that our leaders still don't have proactive plans two years later. They've run this whole pandemic on last-second bandaid decisions and relied on the people to actually execute, and when things improve, they don't plan for the next hurdle

While I believe we should be more cautious about this virus than the "let 'er rip" crowd is, I can understand why people get frustrated when basically every plan continues to revolve around making everyone's personal time miserable while keeping them available for work Get sick? Well, we don't want to help you with sick days, and the new test restrictions probably force you out, so either pay out of pocket for your chance at a brief sick note or show up to work anyway. The economy needs you. Want to do anything else? Well, that's too bad.
