NEW Senior U.S. official:
US Navy  personnel from the USS Mason responded to a distress call from the crew onboard an Israeli linked tanker. 5 armed gunmen tried to hijack the ship in Gulf of Aden. US Navy pursued toward Yemen. Warning shots fired. Gunmen now being interrogated. It is the second time in days that the Central Park tanker has been targeted for hijacking. The first time Houthis tried to take the ship near Hodeida. The 5 gunmen boarded from a skiff by pulling up alongside the tanker which I am told “has a low free board.”

The $6 billion was sent to what has been described to me as an even more secure bank account in Qatar where it still sits. To withdraw any of the money the US Treasury still has to validate the bills of lading for the money to be used. The Qataris have oversight over the money. This was Iranian money that even the Trump administration had agreed could be used by Iran for humanitarian reasons as long as those purchases for food and medicine were verified. The release of this money as part of the recent Biden admin hostage deal was not to Iran –

Regarding the $6 billion: I spoke to several senior officials who were involved in the unfreezing of the $6 billion to Iran in exchange for 5 US prisoners, some of whom worked under the Trump Administration and are still serving… Those who are saying that this $6 billion that was part of the American hostage release negotiated by the Biden administration likely fueled the Hamas invasion are missing some key facts….None of the money has been spent yet. It remains in a Qatari bank under US Treasury watch.

They took it out of action.” @ReaganInstitute 1st National Security Innovation Base Summit. “So yeah, not very happy about it. And the bottom line is, is we cannot allow that to happen. This is a case of where our allies and our adversaries should understand that we're not putting up with this,” @SenatorRounds told me.

The Senate just stripped Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) provisions from the NDAA, causing further harm to Afghan allies. Cong Seth Moulton: “It is beyond me why some of my colleagues—who have never even known what it is like to put their lives in the hands of these brave allies … “in combat-–would deliberately strip reauthorization for this program. It represents the worst, most nativist undercurrents in our society and is not what America should strive to be.” Moulton on Senate stripping SIV protections for Afghan allies, gutting visa program.

More from Andriy Yermak to @thecipherbrief #ThreatCon2022. “The Russians have been preparing missile strikes on the Ukrainian capital and the infrastructure for a long time. There is no practical military sense in those large scales acts of the terrorism.” Yermak: The Russian “calculation is two fold. The first part is to make living conditions too harsh to survive in winter. To provoke another wave of migration and depopulate Ukraine. The second part of the plan is to psychological break Ukrainians to make us wish the war ended.”

Background on recommended Army base name changes: Fort Benning, Ga. – rename Fort Moore after Lt. Gen. Hal and Julia Moore.
Lt. Gen. Hal Moore served in Vietnam and is author of, "We Were Soldiers Once and Young," & his wife Julia Moore served as a champion for military families. Fort Bragg, N.C. – rename Fort Liberty after the value of liberty.
The name Bragg comes from General Braxton Bragg, who is generally considered among the worst generals of the Civil War. He earned a reputation for incompetence, shooting his own soldiers, and losing battles.

Fox News has learned Putin has in place 70 percent of the military forces he would need for a full invasion. The number of Russian battalion tactical groups (BTG) on the border has increased to 83 up from 60 battalions just two weeks ago. 14 more are in transit. 30,000 Russian troops are in Belarus - a 50 mile drive to Kiev from the Belarus border. Those tanks and vehicles would likely move through Chernobyl en route to Kiev – a quick drive.
The ground is expected to be at peak freeze on February 15.
