This standard has been rattling around in my brain since I saw it yesterday. So, a think-aloud 🧵about how I'd approach this as a (former) curriculum designer (ignoring all the political context.) And how other changes I haven't seen mentioned are more worrisome. First, Florida is an adoption state - which means their standards are less for teachers and more for publishers. This change to the standards won't meaningfully (as I understand it from my NY-perspective) take effect until 2027 when new SS instructional materials are adopted.
