I have never considered myself an angry person, but navigating a pandemic with a fragile child in a broken medical system where no one cares if my child is further harmed has indeed made me incredibly angry. I don’t know how patients manage any follow up these days.
I am a health professional and I can’t access any follow up for my (in pain and non weight bearing)child post ER visit unless I subject her to a walk in clinic… and I have health system literacy. I can advocate. I am privileged. I understand first hand the loads thrust on HCWs,

Hi @AHS_media@AHS_YYCZone;when I emailed patient services about my serious concerns related to the removal of continuous masking in healthcare facilities the last thing I needed was for your announcement I had obviously already read to be copy/pasted. Not only have you provided
ZERO data to support this reckless decision, you didn’t address my concerns AT ALL!!My guess is,you can’t. Because there is NO justification for this decision. Making the decision to make healthcare less safe for patients is unacceptable. And those concerned deserve accountability

I can say right now as the parent to a medically vulnerable child, a healthcare provider and loved one of many vulnerable people, I feel abandoned. I feel abandoned by a healthcare system that should be prioritizing patient safety above all else, I feel abandoned by colleagues
Who feel the most minor inconvenience of wearing a mask should be prioritized over protecting their vulnerable patients and coworkers-the very people they have professional obligations to protect. I feel abandoned by unions who fought hard for the health and well-being of members

It’s really revealing; so many people complained about mask mandates. But when asked and recommended to mask indoors time and again people won’t mask. People simply won’t do the right thing on their own. Even when hospitals are overflowing, people can’t get the standard of care
They deserve. When children are incredibly sick and our children’s hospitals are overwhelmed to the point of redeployment. Not when staff shortages cause surgical postponements and chemo rescheduling. It seems really childish that people hate being told what to do… when they

My dad is American. His parents both grew up in gun loving rural areas. My grandma talked about hunting rattlesnakes for fun (😬) growing up and keeping the rattles. They moved to Canada after the death of their child, and brought their guns legally. After living in Canada for
About two years they surrendered their guns. My grandma, “There was just no need for them here.” Now, they aren’t farmers or hunters, just Americans who had guns because it was their “right”, who came to Canada and quickly realized how the second amendment didn’t make sense in

One of the saddest impacts of the pandemic in 2022 is this belief that our personal choices are more important than our impact on others. That because it’s our choice and doesn’t hurt us personally then it’s ok- “personal responsibility”…As a healthcare worker in 2022,
I can unequivocally state this sentiment couldn’t be further from the truth. Our actions may not always have direct impacts on others that we can see, but they do impact others. And the longer governments place “personal choice” as the be all, end all…I have very little hope for

🧵Well, here we are #Hellberta. My husband can have known Covid positive students in his class, unmasked infecting anyone. @albertateachers this is a workplace health and safety issue, you have failed your membership since February. School boards for much longer.
I dare any of you to look my medically at risk 2 year old in the eye & tell her she is worth burying your heads in the sand. You know there are teachers and students with significant health conditions in your schools today, who you have FAILED to keep safe, just so parents aren’t
