I'm angry today. Angry at the cruelty of this despicable administration. Angry at the lies, retribution, lawlessness, unbridled power, injustice, racism, threats, and indecency. I'm angry that people are being snatched off the street by masked men, that they're living in fear... I'm angry that people are facing the loss of freedom, livelihood, healthcare, medical advancements, and education assistance. Angry that we are losing medical and scientific expertise that has helped millions and seeing it replaced by quackery and grift.

Christians who have willfully supported Trump: you need to understand that before God you are responsible for the harm he wreaks. Every person he disappears without due process, every person who goes hungry or without medical treatment, every person who unjustly lives in fear... every person who is unsure how they will afford retirement, every person targeted for telling inconvenient truth, every person harassed by those Trump encourages to commit atrocities, every person who dies because of medical misinformation...

🧵Christians are widely responsible for returning Trump to power. A foul-mouthed, abusive, lying, cheating, bullying sociopath who has harmed countless people throughout his entire life; who has abandoned and insulted our allies, facilitated dictators... trashed our fellow citizens, denied people due process, viciously attacked the judicial branch, destroyed Constitutional foundations, obliterated aid programs, undercut immensely important scientific studies and medical trials...

By biblical definition, we have elected a fool to the presidency. A Proverbial 🧵 on what defines a fool and why we are to censure and avoid rather than honor and trust them:

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction" (1:7). "Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips and spreads slander is a fool" (10:18).
"A fool finds pleasure in wicked schemes, but a person of understanding delights in wisdom" (10:23).
"Fools show their annoyance at once, but the prudent overlook an insult" (12:16).

Christians who support Trump from the margins: if you haven't spent any time around MAGA folks, it's time you paid more attention. You need to know who you're aligned with. This mentality of pure ugliness and hatred, often from those who claim to be Christians, is a growing... scourge, encouraged from the very top by Trump. You need to see the full extent of what Trump support has created and will continue to fuel. For ten years, many of your fellow believers have been trying to alert you to the dangers of such a man; how his coarseness, rage...

🧵My heart is truly heavy right now in regards to a large swath of the Church in this nation. You may not like hearing me talk about it so much, but it is the greatest crisis of the faith I've seen in my lifetime. We have always fallen short in areas, no doubt. But what... we're seeing now goes far beyond falling short and having human failings. This is a willful, determined grasp at power and control in the name of God. Out of fear or anger or selfishness-or maybe even good intentions to uphold God's honor that have morphed into something else...

I voted for Kamala Harris. To some fellow believers, that will be an affront. But the Church has widely been responsible for empowering a dangerous man, and I feel a responsibility to refute that. In our system of government, voting against him is a prime way to do that. 1/13 Trump is a man wholly unfit for office. A man who lies habitually, admires dictators, and cares for no one but himself. A man who has attempted to extort foreign leaders, stolen classified information, and threatened to go after his domestic adversaries. 2/13

Something I think needs to be better understood is that we're not in normal political times. In the past, we've all gotten along fine with neighbors who displayed yard signs for politicians we didn't support. NBD. But displaying signs for Trump feels different because... that means your neighbor is proudly in support of a man who is a convicted felon and an adjudicated rapist. A serial liar who incited a mob in an attempt to overturn an election and twiddled his thumbs when they were beating up police officers and wanted to lynch his VP...

"In crossing the Atlantic we observed this very principle of faith. We saw no path upon the sea, nor sign of the shore. And yet day by day we were marking our path upon the chart as exactly as if there had followed us a great chalk line upon the sea. And when we came within... twenty miles of land we knew where we were as exactly as if we had seen it all three thousand miles ahead. How had we measured and marked our course? Day by day our captain had taken his instruments and, looking up to the sky, had fixed his course by the sun. He was sailing by...

"There are times in the life of every Christian where one does not know what to do or say. Things look unclear and very difficult. Friend, such times of darkness come to discipline your character; they will increase your knowledge of the Lord. These seasons of darkness are for... listening, not speaking. In times of darkness, our Lord shares the darkness with His disciple. He is there. He knows all about it. There must be a sense of mystery, for mystery requires you to be guided by someone who knows more than you do. This is true, both physically and...

The Spirit of God has not left us or ceased working in or speaking to us. What robbery it is to attempt to convince people otherwise. Listen to Christ instead:

"When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth. For he will not speak on his own... but he will speak whatever he hears. He will also declare to you what is to come. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you" (John 16:13-14).
"When the Counselor comes, the one I will send to you from the Father —the Spirit of truth who...

Utterly abandoned to the Holy Ghost!
Seeking all His fulness at whatever cost;
Cutting all the shore-lines, launching in the deep
Of His mighty power--strong to save and keep.
Utterly abandoned to the Holy Ghost!
Oh! the sinking, sinking, until self is lost... Until the emptied vessel lies broken at His feet;
Waiting till His filling shall make the work complete.
Utterly abandoned to the will of God;
Seeking for no other path than my Master trod;
Leaving ease and pleasure, making Him my choice...

“'The well is deep'—and even a great deal deeper than the Samaritan woman knew! (John 4:11). Think of the depths of human nature and human life; think of the depth of the 'wells' in you. Have you been limiting, or impoverishing, the ministry of Jesus to the point that He is... unable to work in your life? Suppose that you have a deep 'well' of hurt and trouble inside your heart, and Jesus comes and says to you, 'Let not your heart be troubled…' (John 14:1). Would your response be to shrug your shoulders and say, 'But, Lord, the well is too deep...

"'It is I!' This was the voice the efficacy of which the disciples had often witnessed. That voice had said, 'Arise, take up your bed, and walk!' and the poor cripple was made whole. That voice had said, 'Be opened!' and the ears of the deaf were unstopped. That voice had said... to the leper, 'Be clean!' and 'immediately his leprosy departed from him.' That voice had said, 'Go out of him!' and the demoniac was restored to his right mind. That voice had said, 'Arise!' and 'he who was dead sat up, and began to speak.' That voice had just blessed the...

"So in a tempest, the gale from which the mariner dreads destruction often drives the vessel onward in her course. This may not be perceived while the storm is at its height. But afterwards, when the sky becomes clear — afterwards, when the necessary observations can be taken... it is often found that much more progress has been made during one tempestuous night than many previous days of calm. This is always the case with the storms that assail the believer. They invariably speed him onward towards his desired haven. And though, while the winds are...

"What could more emphatically prove His love — than coming to this world of sorrow and sin to suffer and die for us, when we were enemies to God? He left His habitation in glory for the foul stable. He left the homage of angels for the insults of men. He left the smile of... His Father for the temptations of the devil. He left the raptures of Heaven for the groans of Gethsemane. He left the splendors of His heavenly throne for the ignominy of the cross. He left the brightness of the celestial glory for the darkness of the tomb! And why was this?...

"Jesus not only prayed for His disciples, but also watched them in the tempest. They could not see Him. They might think themselves beyond His sight; for they had a distance of upwards of three miles. And as we are told, the night was dark, their small vessel could not be seen... from the shore. Yet the eye of Jesus was on it! He saw every wave that broke over it. He beheld the poor disciples in dismay, laboring unavailingly at the oars. He understood all that was in their hearts. 'He saw them straining at the oars.' And does He not see you also...

“'In the shadow.' We must all go there sometimes. The glare of the daylight is too brilliant; our eyes become injured, and unable to discern the delicate... shades of colour, or appreciate neutral tints – the shadowed chamber of sickness, the shadowed house of mourning, the shadowed life from which the sunlight has gone. "What shall the believer do in times of darkness--the darkness of perplexity and confusion, not of heart but of mind? Times of darkness come to the faithful and believing disciple who is walking obediently in the will of God; seasons when he does not know what to do, nor which... way to turn. The sky is overcast with clouds. The clear light of Heaven does not shine upon his pathway. One feels as if he were groping his way in darkness. Beloved, is this you? "The invitations of the gospel are invitations to happiness. In delivering God's message, we do not ask men to come to a funeral but to a wedding feast. If our errand were one of sorrow, we might not marvel if people refused to listen to us. But it is one of gladness... In fact, you might condense the gospel message into this joyful invitation: 'Come and learn how to sing to the Lord a new song! Come and find peace, rest, joy , and all your souls can desire. Come and eat what is good and let your soul delight!' When the coming of Christ...

I have a big problem with labeled theology, i.e. CRT. God doesn't break up acts of justice into sub-groups and slap them with labels. That's a human thing, a convenient way to avoid responsibility b/c if you don't agree with all of one group, you can toss it all out. 1/10 Scriptural dictates on behavior are simple-put others before ourselves, love in truth and grace, administer godly justice, see humanity as God-created and treat others accordingly, stand boldly against evil by shining a light in the darkness. 2/10
