Maybe this will push Disney/Pixar to actually fucking TRY to make good animated movies again. Frozen can only carry them for so damn long.

There's talented folks over there, they just need the freedom to create again. Pixar has solely relied on their standard tricks of 'emotional gut punch moments' for like...10yrs now. Both studios have coasted on their reps, the movies aren't bad they're just not great. We need to admit that.

I watched 2 episodes of Velma and must be a name for when original story is pitched and studios put they can't sell it as is so they just put an famous IP mask over it and shits it out.

Because this isn't a new trend, its just more obvs to us now that's what's happening. Like its a weird mixed of authorized fanfiction. Between whatever Lightyear was attempting to be, Blood Origin's uh existence and now Velma's awful concept. It's really disheartening to watch popular or beloved IPs get gutted for someone to slide their 'totally better' story in.

I understand the need to see positive Queer rep, its a comfort, its nice and welcoming. Especially now when there's so much anger and hatred towards Queer people.

However disregarding or purposefully devaluing any Queer media that doesn't reflect this doesn't solve anything. It's also completely unrealistic to how life is and insulting to people who have lived a challenging existence or still are.

Queer people deserve to be represented, we deserve to depict LIFE, good, bad AND ugly because life is good, bad and ugly. That's why its beautiful.

ACC is a movie I deeply love but my GOD is it terrible.

In ref to Cloud being OOC (which he is mildly imo), the reasoning w Cloud leaving to find a cure and dealing with survivour trauma its the reason why Tifa's "Our memory or us?" scene gets a pass from me. Because Cloud was actively not communicating with his friends and his partner, that action played heavily on Denzel who had already dealt with the grief of losing his parents and sickness. With Cloud being relatively mentally stunted w/PTSD he was practically a teen dad.

This is correct. It doesn't mean CCR is bad, it was always a great game with a really godawful gameplay but now that's fixed but its the same game.

FF7R's flawed brilliance is that its a new and familiar experience. Currently NO ONE knows what Rebirth is going to contain, even with all the interviews, Ultimanias etc, even if you're a FF7 uber fan and know the plot. We don't know *anything* going into Rebirth, its virtually a brand new game even with familiar beats and that's exciting.

Without Zack, there's no 'Cloud' as we know it and without Cloud there's no FF7 as a whole. Zack is LITERALLY the foundations of FF7, he's that important. His heroism and just overall a good guy is why we love him so much. He's the 'ideal' hero.

But FF7 is also about the unpredictability of life, being a good guy doesn't guarantee a 'happy ending'.

The idea that Aerith is the 'virtuous and selfless' heroine who sacrifices her life to save the world and everyone mourns her. Whereas Tifa is the 'fanservice and clingy' character that gets Cloud by virtue of her not dying.

That's been the 'narrative' used by idiots for 25yrs. Both takes are misogynist as FUCK towards the characters and the importance of their roles in the story. And in fairness the kernels of both Aerith and Tifa may have been initially rooted in 'maiden' and 'trophy crush' but throughout the story you can see their development.

We're seeing readers demanding fic writers to create at the same quality and frequency as published writers when in reality this is just a 50k sex pollen crossover fic written by a 25yo insomniac eating bagel bites at 2am listening to lo fi hip hop. The sense of entitlement from certain readers towards fic writers but now this attitude has started to become widespread due to the increasing popularity of fanfic and audience need to 'fix' stories/characterization etc.

And that's never been what fanfics were about.

There's so many topics and explorations on sexuality and bucking against societal/gender norms that IS 'romanticized' because its a deconstruction of Shoujo and a WARPED FAIRY TALE. Maybe I need to rewatch the show but goddamn. SA in Utena isn't framed in a super 'brutal' way but its there and its 'beautiful' but its utterly fucked. Everyone in the series have been a victim of some abuse but its shown in the lens of something 'romantic'. It fucks with you.

Read the tags. Folks write about whatever, whomever and that's fine, sometimes with tropes you don't like or themes that might trigger you. Read the tags.

But it not about *you*, no writer AIMS to 'hurt' you specifically. I'm 99% sure they're not thinking about you when they're writing.

We did the work getting the tags for fics relatively normalized over decades and then y'all come in and fuck them up.

Dead Dove Do not Eat is basically "You ABSOLUTELY consented to reading this fic, this is the warning, this is what's in it, your forfeit your right to bitch." DDDE doesn't automatically mean "Problematic/Fucked" it's just usually in conjunction with Explicit fics as the ultimate CLEAREST LABEL POSSIBLE- "It is what it is."

The way I know many of y'all would NOT survive the pre-tagged pre-warning Fanfic days of the 90s.
