The masking trial is probably the most impressive RCT I've ever seen. Done incredibly quickly under absurd circumstances, it has details in the design that answer almost every question I could have in one trial. Remarkable. 🧵 It's also worth noting the number of ways it could have gone wrong and the work they did to prevent that. This thread on how they encouraged mask use is better implementation science than we almost ever see.

New migraine drug outperforms placebo, priced at $6,900/year. Placebo?? Drugs for migraine include coffee and aspirin, both effective. The triptans are work well, have minimal side effects, & are cheap. jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/… Those "with previous treatment failure with 2 classes of migraine-preventive medication were excluded." How is it ethical to test new drugs only in patients who haven't tried existing, safe, effective ones?
