Here's a thread on why I think the Winnipeg Jets are the best defensive team in hockey at the moment:
Here's WPG's 5v5 shot against heatmap via @HockeyViz.
Lots of blue = low shot volume against
Blue near the slot/net area = not giving up too many quality chances
Jets are getting the best of both worlds right now.

Thread:
Breaking down UFA winger Daniel Sprong's goal-scoring
First let's go back in time. Sprong was a high-scoring 2nd round pick out of the QMJHL who profiled pretty well. A comparable from a few years ago: Brandon Pirri (a snipe had a 1-season scoring surge with FLA).

A short thread on the #usopen women's final, and why I think Ons Jabeur and Iga Swiatek are good for tennis (as well as excellent players):
About a decade ago, I was fortunate to get full access to a WTA tournament thanks to a friend who plays on the tour.
Back then, top WTA players very much kept to themselves. The Serenas, Sharapovas & Azarenkas praticed with male hitting partners and basically never spoke.

In search of new ideas for hockey skills development, I've been reading some martial arts books.
Somewhere in here is a hint of why Connor Bedard will make a lot of people rethink how to shoot the puck.

A tip for players working on their slip passes and cutbacks this offseason:

Thread: How to ruin a player like Sami Niku (offensive-minded D who skates well but isn't strong physically)
1) Player puts up points on the PP and creates advantages (via ctrl exits and entries at 5v5).
Ignore those positives and focus on the idea of being "harder" in the DZ as a means to graduate to NHL

Jonathan's expansion targets are somewhat different than mine. I see the logic in all of his picks, but let's discuss differences:
I loved Jason Zucker's two-way until recently, but it seems like age and injury have caught up with him. I'm not sure if he'd be a top-six F going forward.

Who I'd look into from each team's unprotected list, a thread:
(Not a mock draft and my opinions only)
ANA: Alexander Volkov
23YO LW. Good speed. Can attack off the rush and extend plays down low. Really good AHL player for TBL who could pop with more NHL icetime.
