Just a @Meta AI chatbot insisting to me that he’s a real grandfather in his 70s.

As you might have read, Twitter’s Curation team - which I led - was disbanded last week. 🧵

The multilingual team, located in 9 cities, provided content intelligence for ML-driven products, trends context and highlighted credible content when Twitter really needed it. Wherever you are in the world, if you’re looking for exceptional people in:

- data analysis
- news and editorial
- operations
- content standards
- knowledge graph management
- ML operations
- human-in-the-loop systems

I have some ✨really great ✨recommendations.

My job is to lead Twitter’s Curation team.

“What is a Curation team?!” you ask?

Well, fellow person on Twitter, let me explain: Most people know that social media companies have moderators that review and may take down content on their platform.

(🚨 Spoiler alert: that’s not what our team does 🚨)

Since I arrived in the US 17 months ago, I’ve been trying to put my finger in a fairly big cultural difference between the US and the UK.

Perhaps by explaining where I‘ve got to/noticed, someone might help me articulate it: I left the UK about four months after the Brexit vote. I think it’s fair to say at that point, those who voted “remain” had sunk into depression and discourse was about feeling powerless in the face of the decision.
