The main issue I run into across the political spectrum is how tied people are to their lived experiences as opposed to transcending them. People who think worldly politics is an impossible affair usually are right but some people are capable of so much more than they think they are.
Ultimately the way you perceive and are affected by power, both spiritually and temporally, should determine the relationship you have with it. Some people are natural fighters, leaders, tacticians and will naturally have an affinity for worldly things. To deny this as a vocation is just as bad as denying the validity of a more humble life or a monastic life.
