NEW STUDY PUBLISHED TODAY: NATURAL DAYLIGHT DURING OFFICE HOURS IMPROVES GLUCOSE CONTROL AND WHOLE-BODY SUBSTRATE METABOLISM.
@Cell_Metabolism
“HIGHLIGHTS”
Natural daylight vs. artificial lighting impacts individuals with type 2 diabetes
Daylight increases whole-body fat oxidation and improves glucose homeostasis
Daylight increases evening melatonin levels and alters the blood multi-omic signature
Daylight vs. artificial light differentially impacts the human skeletal muscle clock
“Our findings suggest that natural daylight exposure has a positive metabolic impact on individuals with type 2 diabetes and could support the treatment of metabolic diseases.”
Study:
Lung cancer
Breast cancer
colorectal cancer
Ovarian cancer
Endometrial cancer
Renal cancer
Bladder cancer
Pancreatic cancer
Brain cancer
Leukemia
Type 1 diabetes
ALL are linked to SUNLIGHT exposure.
Higher Latitudes (less UVB) = Higher Cancer Rates
Breast Cancer
Breast cancer rates were higher in countries with higher latitude across 107 countries (P<0.0001).
Also, higher UVB irradiance was associated with lower breast cancer risk (P=0.04) after adjusting for cloud cover and other factors such as alcohol consumption, cigarette use and obesity.
