This is a long and potentially boring thread so feel free to scroll straight past ...

When I was 14yo, a boy gave me a "friendship" ring. 9ct gold. Quarter moons and stars engraved on it; cost him one week's pay. We were "going steady."

And then I dropped him. Of course I handed back the ring.

The boy was a very good cricket fast bowler. He bowled that ring down the road hard as he could in anger and last I saw it—a glint of gold flew off into the horse paddock way down the street.

Mr J was a HR Manager Qld public sector.

Staff member Tom shyly said "Mr J? There is this person harassing me over his leave entitlements. I can't find any evidence to back-up his claims. But he won't go away. I don't know what to do."

1. The age of IT had arrived. No more paper records. This was all happening via email. We'll call the person "Scott" to protect his identity.

Scott said he was owed long service leave from way back when. Adamant he'd never used his entitlements. Demanded his records be updated.
