Pass whatever law you want, ban whomever you think is a troublemaker. We will remain deeply sick as a society, not one segment is wholly responsible for that sickness, and until we are able to recognize that in ourselves and each other none of this gets better. The optimistic side of me wants to believe we can still be united in a common set of principles and goals. The cynical side of me asks what those could possibly be. Much of our division has been played up by parties and the media - but I fear that seed has taken root

This is my issue. It’s not the “free market” acting when multiple tech and financial companies collude across the board. And I’m not sad it happened to Trump, I’m alarmed because they can literally do this to anyone. “But if you don’t say bad things it won’t happen” oh sure ok The blocking of Parler gives the game away. Trump doesn’t have a Parler account but Apple and Google are taking it away anyway because many of his supporters use it. It’s not explicitly a “right-wing” app but they don’t like the makeup of the community that uses it

Every time I see someone clutch their pearls over Trump putting kids in cages I remember that Obama and Biden built those cages and the press and Congress knew about it and were good with it because same team Honestly this is what bothers me the most about any Democratic administration- the utter lack of accountability. I would love to judge on policy pluses and minuses. We don’t live in that world any more

So this bothers me. A verified account throws out a claim that sounds outrageous- that families routinely give out $50-100k gifts to their relatives and it’s an advantage that Black folks don’t have. It’s not true according to any of my or my friends or family’s experience. After 200k likes and retweets she deflects immediately and says maybe whites don’t have this experience but others do and goes off on a tangent about financial gaps and economic disparity which is all fair - but this initial wild claim is what got the attention

If you think the backlash is bad now, wait until the mass antibody testing starts and it shows more people were exposed and asymptomatic or mild than thought. Doesn’t matter the ratio. The anger will be real. Real science has uncertainties taken into account, acknowledges gaps in what is known. I submit that what we’re living through isn’t policy through science, but policy dictated by a scientist class that doesn’t want to be questioned

I was looking at the WHO’s annual global tuberculosis report (which is full of amazing data) and came across this interesting map Obviously it’s a simplification and the raw data is more informative, but as shitty as our health care system is or is made out to be, a great majority of citizens of other nations are in far more precarious financial situations with their major health care costs
