THREAD: There is a local bill before the Montgomery delegation tomorrow that would allow voters in that county to decide on a 10 mill increase for public schools. It has the support of most voters and the business community. Regardless, Rep. Reed Ingram plans to block it.
Ingram has been making calls all day, trying to explain himself to city leaders, business owners, school board members and county commissioners. He has started at least three of those conversations by asking the people not to call him a racist.

Where the hell are Alabama's state- level leaders? Del Marsh, Mac McCutcheon, Kay Ivey? I know they're all talking to each other and letting special interest groups know about plans, but none of them are talking to actual people of this state, offering guidance or leading. /1
This crisis has been handled since its outset by Ala's mayors and city/county leadership. They've received little support from the state level. And the absence of Ivey, when compared to even incompetent govs in other states, is embarrassing. /2
