Since 1947, after the partition of India, Bangladeshi minority communities have suffered a systematic ethnic cleansing cycle that has dropped their population from 23% (in 1951) to 9% (in 2017).

In the 13 years since 2001, there have been more than 20,000 incidents of violence against minorities in Bangladesh. In addition, more than 600 minority family members have lost their lives and more than 70,000 people have been injured in various post-72 attacks & tortures. Of these, about 12,000 have been paralyzed. Bangladeshi Minority members have become destitute due to organized attacks.
