Right, I have no particular wish to spend lots of my time in Musk-land: I'm not going to shut right down here, but I do want to reduce my activity & would really like to find more ways to connect with folks elsewhere. If you want to Twitter less, #Mastodon is good, and I'm happy to talk folk through picking a server and getting set up and the differences between Masto and Twitter (they're both microblogging focused so quite similar). I'm at @JubalBarca@Scholar.Social there!

A separate issue to the one that's getting a the discourse among the medieval bits of my timeline, but related: generally, bigger name scholars jumping way out their wheelhouse to do public-facing work in areas there are specialists in creates issues we should think about more. And I do get that people may e.g. have books to sell, and becoming a go-to Medievalist for talking abt everything from games to modern resonances gives you more plug points. But even (especially) if you're not going to pass opportunities down the line, you have responsibilities.
