It’s estimated that 250,000 Israelis are now refugees. People from both the north and south have had their homes destroyed or have homes in the war zone. They have no material possessions and no roof to call their own.
Israeli civil society is looking after them and they are 1/3 put up in private homes or hotels where they are allocated one overcrowded room per family.
There are collections for clothes, for pushchairs, for food, all the necessities of daily life. I’m on WhatsApp groups and I see how generous people are with everything.

@robertemeryx @LevinsLaw @TonyDowson5 There’s quite a bit of rewriting children’s books. For years Just William has had paragraphs, sentences and words simplified plus some casual antisemitism edited out. Children (& adults) no longer have the attention span but aren’t now given the chance to develop it. @robertemeryx @LevinsLaw @TonyDowson5 I guess there are other examples. But whilst William’s charm remains, I reckon editing Dahl for sensitivity leaves nothing. He was a misanthrope and whilst I abhor his antisemitism I could argue he didn’t single us out. His attraction is that his books are peopled by grotesques.
