An av African consumes less electricity than an American refrigerator i.e. In a month,
my family of 6 consumes ~14 kWh compared to 45 kWh for the fridge or 1200 kWh for the American. Africa has 17% of 🌎 pop but consumes 5% of 🌎 ⚑

🧡 for anti-African BBC'S, Marco Silva. A week of primary energy use for an American equals 1 year Nigerian energy consumption or 2 years for a Ugandan in 2015.
Out of the 3B people minus access to;

Clean cooking 🌎, 50% are Africans
And without ⚑ is at 90% of the total Image

Dear COP28,

A MESSAGE from a Small Scale Farmer in rural Kisii Kenya to the UN COP 28 in UAE.

🧡 Why does Africa need Fossil Fuels?
The energy industry powers every other industry. Because we want to flourish, we want to replace~90% of SS Africa's energy that comes from burning firewood, πŸ„ πŸ’© & crop residue. But esp because we want to feed ourselves, beat hunger, and.. Image

Energy for my people.
Fossil Fuels for my people.
Access to modern technology to my people.
Machines amplify and expand our capabilities. Why does the US have only 2% of its people in farming or Europe less than 5% while Africa has ~70%?
Machines and Fossil Fuels
🧡 I have met some who thought crawling as a farmer picked a weed out of a bundle of finger millet from 8 am to 5 pm for $1.50 per day, is better than using a selective herbicide. But if you asked them to choose between them leveling their lawns using hoes and a folk lifting machine

Good morning from Kisii Kenya.
What is it like to live here without fossil fuels?
Some refer to it as 'Sustainable', I agree, only if its definition changes to 'break your back if you want to eat even though you'll be poor forever'

I am weeding our maize.
🧡 We had a drought this January, as usual. This one went for a bit longer-over 1 ½ months, it is the longest we go without 🌧️.
Our beans died. Most farmers didn't get what they planted as seeds back-zero harvest. Maize died and we had to do gapping when it started raining..

It is a beautiful morning indeed.
As we prepare breakfast using this season's maize cobs to cook.
Rains are back after 6 long weeks(have a thread coming on that) and we can now plant.
What's more interesting is
'AFRICA Uganda, Other African Nations Push for FF Projects' ~WSJ I this morning talked about the pretentious WB.
Of course, we know what we are doing. While @WilliamsRuto is busy with meetings with the EU, Museveni(a dictator that I barely like) is busy serving his people. And of course we know what we are doing.

Many many issues but colonization.
When the UK(Europeans) was burning coal for its industries in 1900s, it was busy colonizing Africa. They didn't build industries in Africa, they came here to exploit us. Enslave us. Take our resources
Google the atrocities committed against us They shipped us all the way to their countries for cheap labor. They had tractors but needed us to weed, nurture and harvest whatever was produced,
That's after they strangled civilization in Africa. I mean, some scientists think Aliens built Egyptian pyramids!

I have been meaning to share this video for sometime. Let's discuss energy poverty in Africa.
Maize/corn is the number 1 grown crop in the US and Africa. And it is certainly amongst the most nutritious cereals. Kenya's staple food.

🧡 We have large scale maize farmers and small scale ones, the latter taking over 80% of the crop produced.
a) For small scale farmers, we have ploughing the land using hoes. Planting the seeds manually by counting. Usually 2-3 seeds per hole. And a pinch of the crop food, DAP.

Dear Inger,

I appreciate the work you and the UN do in Kenya. Our government has failed to feed Kenyans in the arid regions i.e Marsabit, Moyale and Garissa. But you can do better, undoubtedly.
Has Garissa been experiencing more droughts recently? Let find out

🧡
Karibu Map of Kenya showing the ASALs I have been reading through this interesting research paper for a University of Nairobi student for his PhD. The research was carried out during the
1979-80 drought and famine period.

Dear the Rich World,
Pushing hard on the developing world to enact policies that hurt its people isn't cool. Our top problems are Poverty, Hunger, and Corruption, not climate change, not EVs! We def need lots of cheap reliable plentiful Energy
A 🧡
From Energy Deprived Africa. 1 I have been brought up in an agricultural background and have been a part of it from age 12, helping my parents tend our livestock, tending to our crops, and spraying our fields, among others. Unfortunately, in an economy without sufficient energy, children have to help around
