This thread of excerpts from "Red Shambhala" (2011) by Andrei Znamenski paints a much darker picture of Tibetan Buddhism. Any religious tradition that initiates people by requiring them to "offer their minds, spirits and bodies to the... master performing the initiation," the goal of which is to "turn adepts into empty vessels" possessed by non-human intelligences, ought to set alarm bells ringing.

1. Own many books. It is not necessary to have read them, but they MUST be leather-bound and prominently displayed.

2. Be a Thomist™. A Thomist™ is someone who owns a copy of the Summa Theologica. (Same conditions apply as above.) 3. Earn a BA in theology. Or philosophy. Or religious studies. Or whatever.

4. Learn to write as you think: rarely, and very little. As a theologian, you are too busy to write.

5. Have a podcast. This will ensure that you never have time to write anything.
