Thread : Hyderabads Birthday.
Today marks the 429th birth anniversary of the city of Hyderabad. It was this day when Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah, the ruler of the Qutub Shahi Dynasty laid the foundations of the city which grew to be one of the best cosmopolitan cities in the world.
According to historians, a massive plague broke in the kingdom just one year before the foundation of the city, and the believing residents placed a taziya at the exact place where Charminar stands now. When the pandemic disappeared, it was Muharram in the year 1000 Hijri.

Breaking stereotypes : A Thread
Muslim City:
Hyderabad is not a muslim city. Muslims do not even constitute 50% of the population. But it is widely influenced by muslim culture due to its history of kingdoms which ruled over it.
Food :
We do not eat Biryani all the time, neither it is the only famous dish in Hyderabad. We have khatti daal, talewa gosht, pathhar ka gosht, bagara khana dalcha, haleem, bagare baigan, double ka meetha, sheerkhorma and many other dishes with us.
In 1931, during the public meeting, a well-built man named Abdul Qadeer Khan, rose up from an audience and delivered a speech which was considered to be seditious by the State Government. /1
During the hearings, it was found that the trial had greatly excited the Muslims as it was the first case of a political nature in the state and thousands of people assembled in the court to know the fate of the prisoner. /2
