An interesting exercise is looking at the accounts of people who now talk about Somalia or Yemen being bombed, complaining its not spoken about, but never tweeted that news on its own and never tweet about those places unless fitting it into a point about their own politics. Even when it's written, actual news about Somalia is not read. And I'm not excusing media approaches to what is reported but if you retweets a "whatabout" post more than you read and retweet the actual news on a usual day, then you need to also look at how you inform yourself

Rohingya refugees gather in the camps of Bangladesh chanting “Gambia, Gambia” as the country takes its case accusing Myanmar of genocide to the International Court of Justice.

Aung San Suu Kyi will defend Myanmar herself. I was with Rohingya in Bangladesh morning after Gambia’s case announced. They were shocked to finally hear someone taking it on and wondered whether Gambia had the power to take this on itself. Finally, a country was acting instead of just using the Rohingya for speeches.

With the internet cut in Sudan and the scramble to try and find out what's happening in Khartoum, we may have missed something very serious in Darfur.

Right now, it's hard to confirm what happened the scale. A few days ago, images and videos began circling of burning villages. Today, there are reports of a very high death toll but I don't know how to confirm it at the moment.
