In 2017 I had open heart surgery to remove my pericardium that was constricting my heart. The day after surgery my left lung collapsed. I was wide awake as the doctor cut my chest and inserted a tube to help me breathe. Two days after that I went into respiratory failure with hypoxia and had systemic inflammatory response syndrome. They called my mom to the hospital in the middle of the night because they didn’t know if I’d make it.

After I filed my complaint with the GA DOE and I received the ruling, I was ecstatic. They ruled in my favor that @CobbSchools had not provided my boys’ a free and appropriate education in the least restrictive environment. I thought I was finally getting somewhere and that Lawson and Camden would potentially be finishing their sophomore year in-person. Unsurprisingly, my excitement didn’t last long.
