If you want to know about how genes actually work, or how to look at scientific study design, this will be worth a watch (even if you have no interest in Amatica's work specifically). Many ME/CFS researchers are above average science communicators, I suspect because of connection to patient experience. Even against that landscape, the core scientific concepts have been explained exceptionally well!

Rooting for Rutin?

There's a lot going on, and it seems like there have been breakthroughs every day- thanks to many fabulous @RenegadeRes self-experimenters!

There was a fantastic discussion on Rutin's myriad effects back in June, and I'd like to offer a few updates. The effects on GLAST are what led me to pick up a bottle last year. Like most, I didn't notice much at the time. The bottle sat half-used in my cabinet until June of this year.

@MaskedHottiee Yes- but there are also significant risks. @TaraFotiPhD’s experience is a great example of both the good and the bad!

K has a LOT of targets, and effects are not linear: significant differences by dose, duration, and method of administration.

(1/?) @MaskedHottiee @TaraFotiPhD One of the better studied effects of K is NMDA blockade leading to increased AMPA activation. NMDA & AMPA are the largest classes of glutamate receptors, active primarily on neurons. (2/?)

At the end of this talk today for #MECFS24, I finally stated publicly: it’s been three months and I do now consider this to be remission. Remission does not mean cured. I know that cliff is still there.

Remission is not symptom free. I’m still hupovolemic. I still have memory issues, which are likely due to mycotoxins, lead, mercury, or all of the above.
But they might also be side effects of treatment ⚠️

YES!!!!!! SO excited to see this!
After ADHD(etc) and EDS, the most statistically abnormal representation I’ve found going through folks DNA with them have all been muscular dystrophies.

Top two being McArdles (a GSD like Pompe) & carnitine transferase def. (can be in LGD) We often present atypically. Most genetic diseases only describe singular, severe, homozygous cases. Most with ME or LC I’ve seen are heterozygous, with classic symptoms shown only after trigger event; or compound heterozygous on the same metabolic chain (similar to MTHFR).

Good Afternoon @remissionbiome!

Now three weeks post acute phase. First stand 73 to 97 (+24)
I seem to be stabilizing at + mid to high 20s; pre treatment normal was + high 30s/low 40s

Today digging what about acute & post treatment interfered w/ my adhd meds, starting w/ GLT-1 Wow wow wow. Maybe some breakthroughs today? Too busy with life (!) but will write them up soon.

Ahhh! How can I sleep after this fell into place?

From my own @remissionbiome experience and comparing notes with others, I had two suspicions:

1. That a metabolite or downstream effect of clavulanic acid was key the the on/off switch of cell sickness behavior. And
2. That the ability to cross the blood brain barrier was a key feature in the majority of abx induced remissions. While amoxiclav dominates, there are others- every one I’ve heard about crossed the blood brain barrier well. Most abx do to some extant, but often poorly.
