Knocked on a door today. Person asked my thoughts on Ukraine. I expressed my horror at what is happening. Response?
“Oh, you don’t know then. It’s all fake.”
Went on to talk about lots of other issues: convoys, Trudeau, media.
“CBC is the biggest terrorist going.”

I asked where this person gets their information.
“The internet. TikTok. Joe Rogan.”
What struck me about the discussion was how genuinely fearful the person seemed. They have kids. Had tears in eyes when talking about future of our country.
Overwhelmed and afraid.

I spent the past three days in #ThunderBay. It was a bit of a roller coaster, including moments which filled me with sadness and rage; and, moments of sheer awe and joy. As I head back to SWOnt, I wanted to share some thoughts.
Warning: this won’t be short.
THREAD. /1
On the flight here, I listening to the @CANADALAND series on Thunder Bay. It paints a horrifying picture of life in so-called “murder city” with the highest homicide & hate crime rate in Canada. The stories of racism and vicious murders of Indigenous people had me in tears. /2

Last night @jesse_helmer and I were out supporting @vankayak. I knocked on a door, and it was opened by a man and a little girl. We started talking about Adam. The little girl got very (!!) excited, and said she wanted to meet him. They grabbed their coats. /1
The little girl took my hand, and we ran (and I mean ran!) to find Adam. He was busy talking to other neighbours, but as soon as we found him, Adam dropped to his knees and began talking about why he wants to be this little girl’s MP.
