@lilradishn Interesting reading these tweets.

I've studied this topic myself pretty extensively.

There's no one right answer to the question and I think the answer is extremely complex and I'll try to get into it as much as I can. @lilradishn 1: Its important to note that Japan was occupied for decades by the US and the US effectively turned Japan into a client state. One of the few positive effects however is the that this imposition created socioeconomic liberties & opportunities that didn't exist in Imperial Japan.

I'm a #DraftWarren guy from 2015.

I take no pleasure in saying this, but Warren's duplicitous nature and backstabbing has driven me from accepting her as a second choice even though she abandoned my core issues, to now demanding that I want my money back.

#RefundWarren. The POLITICO story was ridiculous and I thought could just be a reporter trying to make a buzz for himself. Clearly that memo wasn't widely circulated, and was deleted from the internal Slack (FWIW, I'm in the Bernie Slack, never saw that memo - don't think it lasted long).

Here's what's happening right now:

Warren's heel turn on Medicare-for-All is dragging some people out of the movement for M4A. They're now arguing that a public option is a sensible compromise. We're not even out of the primaries, and we're compromising with the right. They are trotting out people's heroes to tell them that they shouldn't fight for change. Whether that's Obama telling us not to be #TooFarLeft , or Warren not committing to primarying Dems opposing M4A, or even Jayapal or Barkan continuing to push Warren's candidacy as pro-M4A.

You know... I've never actually had a long-form conversation with a Warren supporter?

I've tried. Interacted with a few, but it goes nowhere.

I'm told, invariably, "she has plans." When we get into comparing plans, the conversation breaks down and they just stop talking. Unfortunately, I think many people just like "middle ground" solutions, and see Warren as some sort of compromise (for the sake of compromise), between the progressive left and the neoliberal center.

Why fight, when you can just hash it out and meet in the middle with Warren?

@stephlynn1982 @NicodemusVI @scaryfoxx @jennyjenli @daviddoel Kevin,

I'm just seeing this thread and I'm sure you're feeling frustrated here but just a point of advice: "universal healthcare" does not entail single-payer.

Beto, Kamala, Pete; they're all proposing UHC; but none are single-payer. Tulsi joins that group now. @stephlynn1982 @NicodemusVI @scaryfoxx @jennyjenli @daviddoel UHC could be as simple as the ACA+Public Option+Medicaid+individual mandate+opt-out.

There you go.. now everyone is covered.

But that would suck right? Forced private insurance premiums? That's terrible. What if you don't pay? Then you get an IRS fine??

That's the problem.
