here's how news outlets should be protecting themselves from becoming dupes of political and corporate hucksters spinning media to their own purposes 1/x don't take op-eds or commentary from lobbyists. if a lobbyist has even one file before a government, he/she will adjust all communications accordingly. even if it's on a different file than the one commented about, the lobbyist cannot be trusted to be objective. 2/x

keep reading #wernick's statement and it gets more disturbing with each go. start with his context. "a lot has been said and written in the last few weeks." that is what he's responding to, testifying about, the SNC-Lavalin affair. That is why he is worried about "my country" 1/x He goes immediately from that to "foreign interference" in our politics in an election year. There is a plain suggestion that a lot of what has been said and written in the last few weeks is foreign interference. Why else does one follow the other? 2/x
