People keep telling me to give up…

My debut novel, The Tick and The Tock of The Crocodile Clock, came out two months ago and it’s doing *not bad* - but more and more I’m finding the advice to be that I should settle for what success I’ve had and move on. The problem, I’m told, is that I’m a debut novelist unknown to the publishing world, and that I’m with a small indie publisher. Because of these things I just can’t compete with the big publishers or big authors who dominate the charts on book selling websites.

Going to be pretty hard to use currency as an argument against independence this time now that the tories have tanked the value of the pound.
