Was dmed this morning that after months, Little has responded to the points in this thread with an article: islamicorigins.com/revisiting-the…

His article is long, for brevity I will respond to only some of the points x.com/KerrDepression… The new approach (as expected) is that Yahya ibn Abi Kathir is the initial origin/common source of this material. Little also says that he is probably a genuine CL and that his hadith did include the Isfahan detail. Image

A thread on the hadith critics and consistency in their methodology A charge I have seen levied against hadith scholarship, especially by orientalists, is that the evaluations and conclusions of muhaddithin are often contradictory and at odds with each other. This suggests that their method is imprecise, inconsistent, or arbitrary

I was asked to address an article which argues that Imam al-Awza'i was a forger of prophetic hadith.

So here is a thread.

In short, the above cited hadith regarding the jews of Isfahan and al-dajjal is said to be a forgery by Imam al-Awza'i, who is the common link the isnads for the hadith converge on.

It is argued the hadith was a response to a group that emerged in Isfahan, the Isawiyyah. Image

A thread on some arguments presented by Ibn Taymiyya and other scholars on why there cannot be multiple deities.

At the end of this book, some flowcharts are provided that summarize the basic arguments in a simplified form Image The first argument is to establish that a Lord must be independent in power Image

After heavy hikes, Kayseri dhimmis jizya was 220 akçe. At the time 1 akçe was 0.25g silver, so 55g/yr

Don't have wages for Kayseri, but wages for UNSKILLED labourer in Istanbul were 3.3g/day. So ~17 days pay

In other times & areas it was FAR lower, eg 30akçe

The historicity of the seerah and hadith literature; the case of Suraqah bin Malik (ra). The hijra of the Prophet (ﷺ) from Mecca to Medina with his companion Abu Bakr (ra) is well known. An incident that occurred on this journey involved a man named Suraqah bin Malik (ra). He would become muslim, but was not one at the time of this incident.

This is like the fifth time I've seen this retarded meme from these wretched souls. Usually tradcaths ironically. These people are utterly bereft of intelligence. Even a surface level reading of the literature will demonstrate how wrong this is Other accounts of the above incident mention the woman in question has a black grandmother and was thus mixed, and this is mentioned in the commentaries as well

This is not unheard in people with mixed ancestry

A thread on Juynboll, one of the most influential western academics/critics on hadith

Will mainly be taking a look at this ridiculous paper Image Before we get to this, a basic concept used by Juynboll is the "common link" pictured below. If isnads for a hadith converge on a "common link", then they are the origin/source who made it up. Nothing before them is historical. Image

This understanding is deeply flawed. Some examples below Free choice is not the ultimate principle which governs all of feminism. As this article notes, french feminist groups did not accept scarf wearing women even before any french laws restricting this had been enacted

A thread analyzing some information regarding the famous hadith about the son of Rasulallah (ﷺ), Ibrahim.

Bear with me, as it will take a while to get to my point. When Ibrahim, a son of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), died as a young boy, there was a solar eclipse that same day. The people erroneously assumed the eclipse was caused by Ibrahim's death. When the Prophet (ﷺ) learned of this, he immediately told everyone this was not true.

I don't believe "swoon theory" is actually true, but just by being in the realm of plausibility, it would create problems for belief in the resurrection. If it was even plausible (even if unlikely) that Jesus (as) was crucified but removed from the cross still alive, it would immediately become very hard to definitively prove the resurrection.

None of the points made in this ridiculous article regarding the hadith of Aisha's age are new, and all are easily rebuffed. Some examples below. They claim Hisham is the origin/forger of the report. They also say no other medinans narrate it. The is false. One example is Al-Zuhri (medinan). Ma'mar transmitted it from Al-Zuhri, Abd Al Razzaq recorded it in his Musannaf and Muslim in the sahih. A thread on a historical case for one of the miracles of The Prophet (ﷺ) Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said:

“The Last Hour would not come until fire emits from the earth of Hejaz, [a fire] which would illuminate the necks of the camels of Busra.” (Bukhari & Muslim)

Busra is a town in Syria and is approx 900km from Medina

Some early christian writers faced the charge of polytheism, let us briefly see some things they said Tertullian (died year 220 on christian calendar) is known as the first writer to speak of a "trinity"

In his book, Against Praxeas, he says the majority of believers reject his idea and accuse him of worshiping multiple gods

On the reliability of the gospels

I had already tweeted this in the course of another discussion already, they were just buried in the conversation so I am just making these tweets more accessible Note: The original context was how the gospels would be graded if we applied standards of hadith authenticity to them. Now even if we accept the traditionally given authors of the gospels as being 100% correct, they still could not be authentic

Islam and the splitting of the moon

This thread is about some errors made in the video and an alternative approach for Muslims, one that is far more effective in my opinion

As mentioned in the video, Rasulallah (ṣallā -llāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) had split the moon as a miracle. This is also mentioned in the Qur'an (first few verses of Surah Al-Qamar, the 54th surah).

The video also mentions authentic ahadith from multiple eyewitnesses (companions)

"They took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah..." [Qur'an 9:31]

Many scholars mention how this is about taking rulings from them that opposed what Allah revealed. Attached are screens taken from the abridged translation of tafsir Ibn Kathir ImageImage The famous Rabbi, Abba ben Joseph bar Ḥama, quoted in the Talmud as "Rava", is cited as saying that the words of the "sages" (ie, the authoritative rabbis) are more important than the revelation (Torah)!

There are a couple of potential objections disbelievers can make to try and get around this conclusion, but on further examination, these objections do not work. A Short thread

Disclaimer: I do not endorse every claim of parallelism in the chart, some can be disputed If said claims of parallelism were true, Rasulallah (ṣallā -llāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) must have known all these languages & had a library of books if he had made up the Quran

A potential objection is: "But the stories could be orally floating around & not taken from books"
