A THREAD ON GRACE
1/I see a lot of Republicans calling for "grace." I'm writing a book on this topic right now and here is one of the most important things to know: ACCOUNTABILITY is grace. Grace is not letting people do what ever they want and looking the other way. 2/Grace creates a space between the person and the action and recognizes they are more than the thing they did. This means there is a path back for them if they take responsibility for their actions and commit to creating wholeness where they caused brokenness.

1) I have spent the last few weeks in a mostly Twitter free zone to spend time reflecting on what role I may have played in what indisputably has become a dangerously toxic culture. I am not proud of what I have found. 2) I work hard to see
every side of an issue and also speak up when I see a wrong. But in
doing that I am too often judgmental and condemning--both on and off social media--in a way that is
contrary to my belief system and my faith.

1/Respectfully disagree w/my colleague @CillizzaCNN. He says, "People don't hold Trump to the same standards that they hold other politicians to." Therefore, he argues Tlaib (and thus Dems) will be punished more for her profanity. But the reason she's treated differently matters 2/ Where were the shrieking headlines when Trump said the same word she used? We need to be clear that there is a major double standard here: white man can curse but if a woman, esp a brown one, esp a Muslim one does it....she will be punished...
