Quick thread on some of the commentary here on Wab Kinew’s past history. I’ve been thinking about this a lot, especially as both a survivor of domestic violence and an advocate for survivors.
Personally I go back to an Elder I worked with in my non profit days named George 1/8
He was one of the kindest, most gentle, most inspiring people I’ve ever met. He was a residential school survivor and still carried the physical scars on his hands from repeated physical abuse as a child. He was a great teacher to me. He also had a history of DV 2/8

1/4 It’s too soon to think of motive or reasons behind what happened in Saskatchewan but no child comes into this world bad. No child ends up with 59 convictions brought up surrounded by love. We can judge the actions of the men while feelings pain for the children they were
2/4 I worked with high risk offenders and gang members for most of my early career. Every one. Every single one had experienced domestic or sexual violence growing up. Neglect. Criminals are made. So we need to focus on how to stop that cycle

When the UCP was staffing up they filled many senior positions with folks not from Alberta. If you aren’t from here. You don’t understand here
You might have a concept of a Cos play trucking driving version but that’s not what Alberta is. So they did that and almost immediately started bringing in policies that alienated their own voters. Changes to parks. De-indexing AISH. Needless forced errors.
