The 2020 Hate Crime Summit brought together members of the community, religious leaders, community leaders, and our law enforcement partners to discuss hate crimes, hate incidents and what defines both. #SheriffV As I stated tonight, hate crimes and incidents cannot and will not be tolerated in our community. @LASDHQ remains committed to the safety and security of the 42 contract cities and 153 unincorporated communities we provide law enforcement services to.

Today at 0947am, @LHSLASD assisted @LACOFD with a Helicopter Crash near the @CityofCalabasas. All we can confirm at the moment is 9 people were on board. No one survived. We at @LASDHQ offer our condolences to those families affected. @NTSB & @FAANews are on scene & investigating People from around the world are reeling from news of the tragic crash today near #Calabasas. We mourn alongside the families and friends affected by this tragic loss, & are working closely with multiple local and federal agencies to determine the cause of this incident.

This morning’s media open house highlighted the strides we have made as a department and the obstacles we have overcome. To recap, I’d like to point out the #LASD’S achievements this year. 1st, violent crimes across @CountyofLA are down 15.15%. #SheriffV 2nd ICE transfers are down 53%, keeping true to my campaign promise that I would remove the ICE agents from our facilities. Jail violence has also decreased, despite the rise in in our inmate population.

At the 33rd Annual 999 for Kids, LASD Special Victims Bureau, @FIDM and @lacountydcfs came together with volunteers from within and outside of the department to deliver extra support & cheer to kids from our communities.
#sheriffV #999forkids After lunch, provided by @McDonalds , the kids and their families had a chance to play in our snow area, munched on popcorn served by our LASD Grizzlies, visited our petting zoo and participated in many activities.

Yesterday I took a short trip to Catalina Island to visit with @AvalonLASD. The scenery all around was beautiful, but more importantly I was able to get a first-hand understanding of how we are ensuring public safety for the residents & tourists on the island. #SheriffV A quick trip around Two Harbors, or "The Isthmus", afforded me the opportunity to see the area we protect and agencies we partner with on the island. #SheriffV
