Alan Howard said in an interview years ago that he wouldn't drive to work in case bad driving made him angry and affected his trading. I think it's harder for many to make business decisions than trading decisions objectively. This is related to the culture of sentimentalism in the Anglo world. I'm a good person if I have caring sentiments about X and I make people feel good. That's nice, but it's actions and their effects that matter more than sentiments.
