Sadly, we are now able to confirm that yesterday we recovered Nicola Bulley from the River Wyre.

Nicola’s family have been informed and are of course devastated. Our thoughts are with them at this time as well as with all her loved ones and the wider community. Image We recognise the huge impact that Nicola’s disappearance has had on her family and friends, but also on the people of St Michael’s. We would like to thank all of those who have helped during what has been a hugely complex and highly emotional investigation.

Today Andrew Burfield was jailed for life for the murder of Katie Kenyon.

We think it’s important give you an insight into the investigation that led to his conviction and tell Katie’s story.

This is that story ⬇️ Katie was reported missing in April.

Concerned family members had gone to Burfield’s home after they had received cryptic text messages - sent from Katie’s phone - saying she had “gone away to work on herself”. Those messages were from Burfield, purporting to be from Katie.

Katie was a happy, much-loved mother, sister and daughter who was murdered by someone she should have been able to trust. That someone was 51-year-old Andrew Burfield, who despite initially denying any knowledge of her whereabouts and changing his story throughout, has today pled guilty to her murder.

One woman was also found guilty of manslaughter.

Ten members of an organised crime gang who conspired to supply Class A drugs in Burnley and exploit vulnerable children into selling drugs have been jailed for a combined total of nearly 60 years. In 2019, the our Targeted Crime Unit launched OpCroatia, which specifically looked at disrupting the activities of the gang members associated with the ‘AK line’.

A lorry driver, distracted whilst at the wheel, has today been jailed for causing a collision which resulted in the death of a woman.

Leon Stott, 35, of St David’s Road, Leyland (pictured in this video) was sentenced to three years and four months at Preston Crown Court today. Image Stott pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving in July.

1/5 We continue to be really busy across the county with high demand as well as numerous reports of breaches of Covid-19 regulations.

On Tues we received a report of a street party in Darwen where around 40-50 adults and children were gathered. Image 2/5 Officers attended and a woman, understood to be the party organiser, was issued with a £10,000 fixed penalty notice.

We remain in the middle of a pandemic and the rules are there to stop the spread of the virus and to keep everybody safe.

It’s been a busy weekend across the county with high demand as well as numerous reports of breaches of Covid-19 regulations.

On Sunday we received a number of reports of a gathering on New Park Street in Blackburn & when officers followed it up they found a group of 50+ people. As a result three people who we believe were the organisers have each been issued with a £10,000 fixed penalty notice.

A taxidermy dealer who illegally traded in critically endangered species has been sentenced to 56 weeks.

In Dec 2017, we launched an investigation into Arron Halstead after being alerted to the fact that he offered to sell a black rhino skull, a sawfish rostrum & a whale tooth. Image As a result, in January 2018 officers executed search warrants at the 29-year-old’s home address and business address in Burnley as part of Operation Rambler - a complex two-and-a-half-year investigation.

Rocky Marciano Price, 17, of Whinney Hill Road, Accrington has been jailed for 16 years at Preston Crown Court today. A lorry driver who crashed into a school mini bus, after using his mobile phone at the wheel, has been jailed for 8 years and 10 months, for killing a boy and his teaching assistant.

Rebecca's son Dylan sadly lost his life at this quarry after taking a swim with friends. We'll be talking about the dangers of open water swimming with Rebecca & PC Seddon who attended that day. Rebecca wants young people and parents to understand that anyone can succumb to cold water shock and no one can predict the hidden machinery and currents that lie beneath.
