The highway that connects Caracas to the Carribean coast and Simon Bolívar airport are central to how the Chavista regime plans to counter any US military operation in Venezuela 1/ Image The plan announced a couple of weeks ago by Maduro seeks to maximize the defensive use of the mountains to the north and valley to the northwest of the capital that runs through the Cerro de Caracas range to the coastal region of La Guaira 2/ Image

So this is a concrete development and many things may be possible now but the attempt to clear Venezuelan airspace by declaration will have to be followed at some point with enforcement and so the establishment of a CAP along with strikes on air defense could well be next. 1/ Control of enemy airspace, whether full Dominance or Superiority is a pillar of US military ops, as it is for the IDF as shown over Iran, and will have to be over Venezuela. 2/ Image

As of today there's no visual evidence that the Aviación Militar Bolivariana has had any success, on its own, or with Russian help, in increasing the operational readiness of it combat aircraft fleet. 1/
youtube.com/shorts/vt9MsCp… The two Su-30 units for example, are unlikely to have more than 5 flyable aircraft each - how the AMB would use such a small force against the US military (if indeed the US actually ever does anything) is unclear. 2/ Image

This is not about Maduro, this is about an entrenched regime with many heads.

A few months ago Maga turned it's back on Iran, it may well do so to Venezuela, at the drop of a hat. The only "deal" worth the paper it's written on would be an agreement for the entire leadership of the Chavista regime, Maduro, Padrino López, the Rodriguez siblings, Saab, Cabello...the whole gang of criminal rats to surrender themselves to US law enforcement.
