In our stake back in Utah, our stake president at the time was (& I believe still is) a managing editor for the Deseret News. We had some very good conversations (since I worked for a different media outlet back then, we knew many of the same people), but he made a remark...1/
...during a stake conference that struck me as a very direct teaching of the Spirit. He said "unless you are caught up in the things of the Spirit, you will be caught up in the things of the world". That statement has at various points caused a lot of pondering for me. 2/

Back in 1990, Hugh Nibley wrote a 4-part series on the Atonement of Jesus Christ in the Ensign. I've spent the past few days studying it, and I thought I would share some of the highlights of Part 1...
Nibley begins by what seems to be a lean in for those who are either in the throes of nihilism and cynicism or who simply have weak testimonies in general. The "meaning of life" is really only found by starting right with this paragraph.
